Events and Exhibits at APS Stamp Show

The Carriers and Locals Society will be at the APS Stamp Show in Columbus, Ohio. The society will be set up at booth 209 with a rotating display of stamps – come stop by and visit! Here are some of the meetings, events and exhibits we are looking forward to:

Meetings

On Friday, the CALS Annual Meeting will be held in room B240. The Board of Directors meeting starts at 3:00; the Annual meeting will begin at 4:00. We invite members to attend and to bring a piece of interest for an open show-and-tell. The full meeting agenda can be downloaded here: [Download .pdf]

 

Exhibits

Several of our members are exhibiting at this show. We encourage everyone to swing by and check out their hard work!

Larry Lyons has two exhibits, Honor’s City Post (Frame 410) and Make Them Illegal! The U.S. Independent Mails and Local Post Journey to Oblivion by Suppression (Frames 781-788).

Leonard Hartmann is exhibiting The De La Rue Stamps for the Confederate States of America (Frames 610-614) and also showing Peter Winter Forgeries in the Court of Honor (Frames 1038-1040).

John Barwis is exhibiting Philadelphia — Great Britain Mails (Frames 1221-1228).

Anthony Dewey is exhibiting The First U.N. Issue, 1951 (Frames 1195-1204) and a single frame for the National Topical Association show, The Bridges of Hartford, 1810 to Mid-1940s (Frame 105)

Ross Towle is exhibiting Chile Postal Stationery: Essays, Proofs, Specimens, Samples (808-812).

 

Events

Two presentations at the show will be hosted by members of the Carriers and Locals Society, so mark your schedule to attend.

Penny Post editor Larry Lyons will also be giving a talk on Science at the Philatelic Foundation at noon on Friday in room B141.

At 1:00 on Friday, members Mike Farrell, Casey Jo White, and Pasqui Boussery will be giving a presentation on Identifying and Collecting Fakes and Forgeries in room B241.
