POMEROY'S LETTER EXPRESS, 5¢ black on white. Docketed 29 June 1844. Leaf with dateline missing but contents report on a boiler accident on the Gen Vance steamboat that occurred in Detroit harbor. MS "W Co" at bottom left and MS "W" pen cancel on stamp are evidence this is might be a Well's and Pomeroy conjunctive. However, the presence of a single stamp is a question mark. The MS street address suggests it was delivered locally. Repaired tears do not affect front. Interesting cover and contents. Offered as is. SCV $1500.
